RACES AT JOHOR

The Malays



The Malays [7] [8] is a name that refers to a group whose main characteristic is the narrative of the Malay language . The Malays settled in most of Malaysia, the east coast of Sumatra , around the coast of Kalimantan , South Thailand, as well as the small islands that lie along the Straits of Malacca and the Strait Karimata . In Indonesia, the number of ethnic Malays about 15% of the population, most of whom inhabit the province of North Sumatra , Riau , Riau ,Jambi , South Sumatra , Bangka Belitung , and West Kalimantan . [9]

Indian population in Malaya and Singapore before independence consists mainly of the adult men who leave their families in India and Sri Lanka . Thus, with their arrival and departure, the number of Indian population fluctuates frequently. In the year 1901 , the Indian population in the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States is approximately 120,000. By 1931 , this number had risen to 640,000 in Malaya and Singapore, and in the state of Maharashtra , their number exceeds the Malays in the year. Number of Indian population almost unchanged until 1947 because they went toBurma during the occupation of Japan as recruits for the Indian National Army , and porters for Death Track . In the year 2005 , the Indians are about 7% of the total population in Malaysia (around 1.8 million).

Chinese people

The Chinese were the first wave came in the fifteenth century when Princess Hang Li Poh was married to the Sultan of Malacca, bringing together the nobles, followers, and slaves from their country of origin China.Kebanyakan Fujian . The group brought in the Chinese, who was married with the locals to build a community Peranakan . In the 19th century and into the 20th, the Chinese migrated en masse to Malaya.Mereka from southern China, particularly from Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan.Mereka formed settlements in Perak and Selangor, especially in the tin mines to mine worked as laborers to support the British. Besides, they also settled in the Straits Settlements. Most Chinese people can be found on the West coast.

Ethnic Chinese in Malaysia consists of several quarters dialect . There are six major dialect groups: the Hakka , Cantonese , Fujian , Teochew , Hainanese , and Fuzhou . It is proven that people who belong to a particular dialect groups were concentrated in the different communities in Malaysia.
Hakka people form the largest dialect group in East Malaysia ( Sabah and Sarawak ), the parts in Johor especially Kulai , Selangor - Kuala Lumpur andPahang . Hakka tribe is also found in Penang , Johor Bahru and Perak , where they may constitute the largest dialect quarter in such places.
Quarter Cantonese dialect form the largest tribe in Selangor , Kuala Lumpur , Pahang , Negri Sembilan and Perak where a large percentage of this group formed in the population. Quarter Cantonese dialect also form the largest tribe in Johor east and Sandakan , Sabah . Sandakan was called "Small Hong Kong" because the city has turned into a second residence for many immigrants from Guangdong, where the landscape resembles Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s. Media Cantonese television channel also broadcast in Malaysia, especially RTM2 , NTV7 and 8TV .
Meanwhile, the Hokkien dialect form the largest tribe in Penang , Malacca , Kedah , Terengganu , Kelantan , Selangor - especially in Klang and Selangor coast and Johor west. language Hokkien are also spoken in the state capital of Sarawak , the Kuching . Lately Malaysian television channel showing programs from the Hokkien-speaking Taiwanese to balance the content of Chinese dialects in the Malaysian media.
Teochew quarter focused on certain areas in Penang, most of the islands in Sabah and Johor south, especially in Johor Bahru and Pontian .
Thus, in general there are three sub-linguistic group of Malaysian Chinese in parallel with the three metropolitan centers. Group of Penang and Malaccakebanyakannay speak Hokkien while the Kuala Lumpur , Seremban and Ipoh air mostly Cantonese and Hakka . In the south of Peninsular Malaysia, especially Johor, Mandarin, the most widely spoken by the Chinese community there, as a result of the influence of media Mandarin Singapore, as well as the use of Mandarin in formal education. This has resulted in many people, especially young people, to exclude the use of Chinese dialects like Teochew and Cantonese. In East Malaysia , the language spoken Hakka and Mandarin selling, except the Sibu Foochow prone to language and Sandakan in Cantonese.
Recent movement to unite and organize the Chinese communities of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia introduced a Standard Mandarin as the language of the diaspora of ethnic nationalism.
